The LX series feature aluminum cast frame loudspeakers with massive voice coils and extended excursion capability. Highly effective heat dissipation mechanisms allow high sound pressure levels to be sustained over long periods with a minimum of power compression. Large magnet structures and tight construction tolerances give accuracy, high efficiency and reliability in demanding professional applications.

The Wharfedale Pro purpose built high frequency compression driver uses a specially formed titanium diaphragm with a 50mm voice coil. The combination of the low mass diaphragm and our three slit radial phase plug give extended frequency response and accuracy. The sonic clarity and output capability these drivers are capable of is readily appreciated in use and demonstration. Crossovers are designed specifically for each system and feature high quality components. The Wharfedale Pro Pro-Tech™ driver protection system, integral to all LX full range systems, provides smooth and effective limiting and protection against both sustained high power overloads and high energy transients.

Understanding that sound systems are often asked to perform beyond their original design parameters, the Pro-Tech™ driver protection system is designed to smoothly and progressively protect the HF driver against damaging signals and seamlessly return the system to normal operating levels when the overload condition is removed. Cabinet construction is of plywood on all critical surfaces where reliability is important and wood composites where cabinet resonances need to be kept to a minimum. The LX full range speaker systems are trapezoidal designs for more compact arrays. Sonic accuracy is further improved by the systems trapezoidal shape where internal flutter echoes and standing-wave resonances are significantly reduced compared to rectangular cabinet designs. Tough industrial carpet covering provides durability and protection and aids in the safe set-up and use of these systems. A tough steel full front grill provides protection for the components in transportation and use.The LX range is designed primarily for portable sound systems use, yet is equally at home in installations. Where rigging hardware and permanent installation is required we offer the LX-E series systems. LX-E series feature rigging hardware, all ply construction and a two stage epoxy paint finish.
